CERN ROOT installation


ROOT is a program developed by CERN. The main purpose of development was for particle physics and data analysis and it was also used for astronomy and data mining. 

ROOT program library maintain by CERN and its written in FORTRAN language. ROOT used in data analysis in particle physics experiments also 

ROOT developed for highly efficient data process and computing. ROOT is also use to process Large Hadron Collider's experiment data estimated in petabytes.   


installation of ROOT :- 

first of all install all prerequisites 


sudo apt-get install git dpkg-dev cmake g++ gcc binutils libx11-dev libxpm-dev \
libxft-dev libxext-dev


Optional packages:


sudo apt-get install gfortran libssl-dev libpcre3-dev \
xlibmesa-glu-dev libglew1.5-dev libftgl-dev \
libmysqlclient-dev libfftw3-dev libcfitsio-dev \
graphviz-dev libavahi-compat-libdnssd-dev \
libldap2-dev python-dev libxml2-dev libkrb5-dev \
libgsl0-dev libqt4-dev
sudo apt-get install c++11

Download directly from https://root.cern.ch/releases   or get it through command line.

# wget https://root.cern.ch/download/root_v5.99.06.source.tar.gz

extract it using tar -xvf root_v5.99.06.source.tar.gz

#./configure

# make -j 4 (number of cpu core you may change as per availability on your PC/Server)

# make install
